My photos are inspired by personal and societal pressures I have dealt with and continue to deal with often. I was raised in an environment of obsessive perfection in outward appearances and am still told weekly how I should live my life. I touched on subjects such as age, cosmetics, and common societal expectations. These photos are spiteful in part. After all, I am not that woman and sometimes, I wish I was. I was compelled to explore the fascinating style of self-portraiture to explore and understand my feelings toward this topic.
